Our first session will be a chance to get a sense of each other, for you to tell me a little about why you came to counselling and what you’d like to get out of it and also to ask me any questions you might have. I will be led by your pace and you can share as much or as little as feels right for you. I believe a safe and trusting relationship is key in the counselling process so its important that we are a good fit. At the end of our initial meeting, if you decide you’d like to work together, we will agree a regular day and time for our sessions.
In our sessions, my role is to listen, support you and be alongside you as you identify and explore challenges you are facing. At times, I may make observations and invite gentle challenges to heighten awareness and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. If it feels right for you, we can make use of creativity in our work as a way to go deeper into your experience. Each and every one of us is unique, so I will work in a way that suits your wants and needs.
Sessions take place at either New Road Psychotherapy centre in Hove or in a lovely room in the centre of Lewes. I also offer sessions on zoom. You might decide to work short term or work in a more open-ended way, something we can discuss together when we meet.
